There is a myth among novices that release work is taboo in the pump room prior to a contest.  Many feel that only edging should occur.  However, the big cocked and massive muscled men of the IFNB pro ranks will tell you a very different story.  Releasing once or twice the day of competitions is sometimes a great tool for controlling later orgasms.

In the pump rooms of IFNB contests you will therefore often see the massive muscled studs tossing off ropes of hot cum while pumping their thick muscles.  Often, they will use very light weight exercises, and focus on pumping their muscles right through the exercise.  

Lateral dumbell raises are a common lightweight exercise used in pump rooms, and are a staple with pump room release work.  They are one of the easiest exercises to provide a cock spot.  An assistant can use his hand or mouth (or even ass) to easily access the competitors cock while the athlete reps out delt-swelling lateral raises.

This sort of pump-and-release work is not focused on cum-flex timing, but nonetheless will help the bodybuilder deepen the connection between sexual arousal and pumped muscle.  Typically, the competitor will even continue cock stim towards release in between sets.  Assistants literally keep sucking or stroking them while they rest, and don't stop while the athlete starts another set.
