DeleteI am very familiar with a lot o the history of the IFNB, but you're right that it is easy to forget the early days. The IFNB has been working in some form, since the late 40's, but under different names and organizations. The IFNB we know, with it's current judging and authority on what makes the ultimate alpha male, really only emerged in the 80's. And like you said, during the 50's, 60's and 70's the variations on the sport produced some incredible records and competitors regardless of not being "sanctioned IFNB standards."
